Please post your daily fishing reports here. This way, we vacationers can get a one-stop look at the action/non-action.

YellowJacket,

That may not be the best way to get reports from the OBX. Imagine if somebody living out of state posted in your home states forum that people post reports for the benefits of people who wanted an easy way to find out how the fishing is from people who went and put their time in. There are plenty of tackle shops, piers, and other websites that post weekly and even daily reports. I suggest you check out some of them. That was a rather blunt way of asking for information from guys who are out there trying, and not the best way to get a lot of responses.

Just trying to help, but if I was an OBX local, I'd be a little peeved at a post like that. If you want some of the websites I mentioned pm or email me and I'll be more than happy to send you the link.

Have a good one,
Jim

I guess your right. I wouldn't want my favorite spot over-run with part-timers. Just kinda wanted an overall picture of how it's going. Like catching/not catching. No specific location, just whether or not the water temp is too high, surf too rough, skunked every time this week. You know, that kinda stuff. I don't want to make anyone angry. Even though there may not be any real action, a bad day fishing is STILL better than a good day at work!

Yllow if your going down, ill be happy to help ya out. Just shoot me a PM and Ill do it. But no way will I be posting my spots or info on the spots. I wont burn the spots or the guys who fish them along with me.

I can tell you right now the fishing is slow. the north winds really messed things up. Im hoping with south wind returning this week again we will start to see consistent fish again.

This is the kind of information I am looking for. I will say it again so no-one else gets annoyed. I don't want exact locations. I just want to know..."caught a couple at dawn"...."nothing biting yet"..."water temp is cold"...."went out today from around 5am to 9am, some small fish but nothing major."....etc.

I feel that too many people are thinking that I expect exact locations, piers, beaches, and/or
towns. I would never infringe upon someone's personal fishing "hot-spot", I wouldn't want anyone to do that to me, so why would I want to do that to someone else.

Thanks John, I will send you an email.

wow, hope my posting doesn't me in trouble too, I'm one of those outer towners, it's just nice to hear the real skinny once and awhile I wouldn't want someones numbers or lats&longs. Just general fishing info, can't trust just one source, need the multiple input & a weather break then I'll be able to tell whats a biting

Fishing on the Outer Banks has been slow or red hot the past week depending on where you were, when you were there, and whether you were fishing for what was biting. The guys fishing for drum didn't catch too many sea mullet and vice versa. Those who fished the sound and were where they had to be at the right time, caught stripers, blues, specks, pups, and shad in decent numbers. Best thing is to go where the tackle shops send you and see what is going on. Best time to go where they send you is either early morning or late evening. Last Friday I watched three guys reeling in keeper stripers on a teaser rig two at a time.

But the weather has everyone, including the fish, confused down this way. Best bet is to call a local tackle shop before you head down and then be sure to visit them when you get there. Their livelihood depends on you coming back for more tackle, bait etc, none of which is of any value if they don't put you on the fish.
