Hello Folks:
I'm going to be down in Myrtle Beach with friends and family the week of September 18th - 25th. I'd like to know from anyone knowledgeble of the area, what is happening in the surf during the month of September. I used to be located in South Texas so I've spent a ton of time chucking hardware at trout & reds. Suggestions for Myrtle? Specifics on lures vs. live bait (croaker? I don't know what the local baitfish is). I know that down south the surf would be best after the north wind blew for a few days to "flatten" things out. Then, the incoming tide would bring in the green water and really get things cooking. Suggestions, help or even flames are appreciated. Thanks, Holmes (newbie to the board) |

In my opinion the area has never been much for surf fishing. To many vacation goers and tourists. About a month ago they did have a large amount of flounder being caught on the piers and beaches. I was that way last weekend with the family for the weekend and surprisingly saw a lot of 4-6 in. mullet in the water.

There are lots of mullet in the surf now. Anything from finger mullet to 18". Small blues and sharks have been feeding on them. Should be some whiting and flounder around. Try a live mullet on a fishfinder rig.
