Have any stripers been caught from the beach south of Avon? Comming down Thursday and staying in Buxton for ten days. Sounds like the stripers might be a little late this year. Trout, drum, kingfish, Ocracoke ? Any replies or opinions are appreciated.

I left Hatteras last Wednesday, 11/19. The day before, Tuesday, 11/18, a fisherman came into Red Drum Tackle with two large and beautiful stripers he had just caught wading in Oregon Inlet. Saw no stripers caught the prior week while I was fishing Salvo to the Point.

talked to ron snell yesterday at oregon inlet and he had caught one on a hi-lo rig in the afternoon. when i fished the point last weekend the water temp was 66 degrees, still a little warm for the linesiders. OI will be your best bet.

I would fish from oregon inlet north to carova. I have been fishing the avon/buxton area pretty hard for drum the last few weeks and haven't seen a striped one yet. I have heard of a few but not seen one.

SOL's favorite NC Charter captain Rick Caton has been moaning about the lack of stripers but this morning's charter had 19 fish in tough conditions with a few fish over 30#.

This blow is likely to push a slug of fish north.

they are some at OI, but if you go driving on the beach at OI be careful - its a little hairy.

plenty of kingfish, trout, and small blues further south. still some nice sharks and cow nosed rays too as of last week.

Well, it's been an interesting nine days to say the least. Started out barefoot, shorts and a t-shirt on the Friday after Thanksgiving and ended up in long-johns, wool cap, gloves and waders for the rest of the trip. Nine stripes between 15lb and 20lb and some of the biggest doggies I've ever seen. All on cut bunker, during the day, at OI or Pea Island. Missed out on some other bites by leaving too early or changing locations. Fish were there but you had to work at it. Looks like the stripes are still working their way south and should make for some good fishing over the Holidays! I sure would like to see some nice weather for New Years!!!
