Question

Greetings... Will be down in Buxton, NC leaving this Fri and was just curious to know if there is anything of importance to note due to the battering of Issabelle?
Any info would be greatly appreciated...

oops...If ya want to catch a big shark, fish the false point between ramp 43 an 44 after dark... and take extra line! They are BIG sandbar sharks.

fellas,
thanks for the info, greatly appreciated.... But of course due to the wacky season we're having the striped fellows will still up north, oh well hopefully there'll still be some there when I get back. But, I along with the rest of the crew that are coming down are looking forward to hooking into some big sharks and of course red drum...

when you go down, be prepared for everything. we just got back form fishing (and not catching) the big hatteras surf tourney. on thursday it was in the mid eighties with beautiful sunshine, wind out of the SW at 10-15. we fished in shorts and "T" shirts. on friday, the wind shifted out of the NE at 20-35 and the temp dropped 30 degrees. waders and raincoats (although no rain) were needed to keep from being blasted by the sand. we were going to stay and fish the weekend as well, especially around oregon inlet, but the forecast for saturday did not look promising. decided to go home instead. OI was pretty busy from the people both on the bridge and on the beach. ryan at hatteras jacks (in salvo) said that there had been a pretty good run on specks and that a few stripers had shown up. during the tournament, there was a cobia hooked, but not landed as it broke off in the wash to the disappointment of the team. the winning team caught 1 fish during the last 3 segments, essentially winning from their catch during the first session.

hope that the weather and the fish cooperate for you and good luck.........

BBoy, finally I actually get to see someone beach one of them darned "cow-nosed rays" it's a shame we didn't get to see the shark that was gnawing on his wing... but kip we had a great trip weather was good up until wednesday afternoon then the wind/storms came a blowin'...
also, kip any info on "OI" drove by it on the way in and out and looked highly fishable but real tight in some spots.
and of course can't wait until next year's trip...

you are going to wait a whole year before you come back? i know that you said that the area wouldn't be the same after you left, but i don't think that you wore out your welcome, unless you left tarred and feathered. you guys, or should i say "yuse guys" aren't that far away to wait another year. enjoyed the brief visit, and hope to see ya'll again sometime. happy turkeyday!

kip

on the OI thing. you are absolutely right, it is a great place to fish, but like i said you really need to be careful with a lot of the beach overwashing during high tides and certain wind conditions. it is no place to be stuck and because of the hurricane there isn't a whole lot of high ground.
