sooooooooooo... with this goofy weather and the cool water all summer, are the stripers gonna show early this year OR are we gonna have 90 degrees in Oct and they won't come until Feb???

seriously, i know it's pretty much a guess, but am curious what the thoughts are on the fall winter patterns given the super cool summer water..

DD? JohnM? Wormy? anybody

As you said,it's all opinion.. This water temp thing is a "temperary deal" IMHO.. It is mostly a result of "upwelling" caused by the NONSTOP sw winds that keep as the "eveready bunny" goinandgoinandgoin.. In my opinion,I think temps are going to be close to normal this fall after the ne wind negates some of what the sw wind has already done.. I tend to look at the more "optimistic" side of things..

I dont think they will get there early. In fact I think if the water temsp really crash up north you wont see muchon the OBX at all. A couple years ago the water temsp crashed nd the season ened early up north. As a result the fish migrated further off shore and it was a pretty lousy season for them all around. Just be patient. They will show up in november and things will be fine. Dont rush things, we got hawg drum to catch first.....

you could alwasy goup north and find the bass there

I'll pass on that one,John, water temps are a "little low" here in Hat(about 75 last I checked),nothing like "around the point"Heard there were some poons on the reef from a couple of folks down here, going this weekend.. I guess I'll just "stick it out" down here...

TB,
I look for it to be a typical year. Once these crazy water temps break everything should fall back into a normal routine...famous last words

I am looking forward to striper fishin more this year than I have in a LOOOOONG time. Probably cause we had such a great year last year.
I have already driopped $250.00 bucks in the last 2 days on odds and ends for the pursuit of the striped ones. Picked up some Spiderwire Stealth and some eelskin plugs from Tim here and got some custom plugs on order as well as a new reel

Probably pick up a new rod before the stripers show up. Might get the new Lami 1084 that Tim is advertising here.

If the water turns cold and the fish are not holding on the beach we always got our local guide Kenny (Drumdum) with the SWEET new boat. He can take us to the rips and shoals!

Later,
Wormy
