Had a long weekend @ Cape Lookout. Got to go up into the Lighthouse & saw the transfer ceremony from the Coast Guard to the National Park Service.
The wind shifted from coming out of the west to coming out of the south almost as soon as my tires hit the sand. What's that mean? 10,000,000 blood suckin green headed biting flies get blown out of the dunes onto the beach! Caught some grey trout, a pompano, right many mullet (whiting), a sack full of croaker, & a puppy drum. What was the best part of the trip? Well, this was the first time my wife ever spent 4 days & three nights sleeping in a van on the beach w/no running water & no electricity (except when we ran the generator) & no stores & no phones, ect., & SHE HAD A BLAST!! Bugs & all! |
