Going to be camping at camp hatteras. Plan on bringing a yak or two, anyone also planning on being there (OBX) at that time? Maybe hook up on a couple of mornings. Figure fairly slow action. Anything in the sound? S

you should have spanish and bluefish to catch on lures. croaker, sea mullet, pompano, etc on cut bait. there is a campground right off the beach at cape hatteras nationa seashore park where it is around $16 a night, cold water showers and enough mosquitoes to make life really interesting. better hope there is a nice breeze. frisco woods has a really nice campground a few miles down the road with some terrific camping spots with "to die for" views of the sound. a litle more pricey, but warm showers and a pool. there is also a baot rental place on site with a nice convenience store as well. typically pretty hot during that time period, but hanging out all day on the beach with a fishing rod can be lots-o-fun. hope that you enjoy the trip.......

That time of year is when the Cobia Season starts tapering off but there are always a few around. With the water temps as cool as they have been in April, you might hit it just right for Brown Submarines!

Already have a campground, but is there anything in the sound? My son will want to go with me and that's usually a bit tamer water. Cobia huh? They should fight good froma yak. What do you use for bait? S

On sound side, try Canadian hole at Avon (lots of wind surfers). good place for wade or kayak fishing. there are always small fishes around (use shrimp) and sometimes you get flounder or trout.

South beach at Cape point can be quite calm with the right wind. have seen many people kayak fishing there in the summer.

Yeap they are right on with the possible,"big brown truck".. As far as the sound, possible specks and greys.. Look for areas of "broken bottom" (meaning grass and sand mixed),use grubs fin-s,even live pinfish or mullet in areas that are from 3 ft to deeper in depth.. One area I like is near the false point, another near Rodanthe.. Stop in at Hatteras Jack's tackle shop in Rodanthe, they can put ya on em..

I'll be there from the 29th-6th, lookin for cobia, spanish, and whatever else I can find! Lots of hotties that time of year Got two Cobia's last summer bout the same time from South Beach on Bunker heads, so you never know. Also are the BIG winged wonders, just ask B. Myers, right Brina

Havnt fished the sound in a couple years, had a spot over on the O'coke that was dynamite for specks and flounder, but they ran that power line through there and it just aint been the same since

Uncle's bringin his boat this year tho, so look out!
