Thinking of heading to the OBX eventually ending up on Ocracoke Island in the first two weeks of January.
Missed two opportunities to go and I'm really bummed-out about it. One was at the end of November and the other would have been the coming week between Xmas and New Years. I'm holding out hope for decent weather and fishing on the way down but mainly at Ocracoke. What can be expected? |

Very weather dependent and water temperature dependent. There should be some Stripers at both inlets and along the beach. Best bet would be Hatteras Inlet. There should be some trout and possibly a few Puppy Drum in the sloughs and holes along the beach. Just enjoy the beauty and solitude and you might get rewarded with a few fish.

S-P if you go to Tradewinds.com you see that a few stripers are being caught, but take a look at the fishing report archives, jan 17-18th of last year were great, stripers and red drum, always seems to be a few fish caught on OI most of the year, all depends on the weather, know that Bob and Nancy fish most of the year, but if you do go make sure you get plenty of bait before you get there as Tradewinds is mostly closed and does not carry fresh bait this time of the year
