Headin out Friday afternoon...the forcast looks pretty good.
It looks like the highs will be in the 50s and 60s for the next week...a little rain here and there. How do you regulars think the fishing is going to hold up??? I'm crossing my fingers. Also...is it okay to sleep in my truck on the beach??? Thanks!! |

I just got back
finaly hit it right and got some decent fish. You can sleep in your truck its a common thing down there.citation is a certifiacte given nby the state of NC. For released fish you need a witness. Drum is over 40 inches, there is a true slot on them, 18-27 inches all others go back. Stripers its 35 inches for a release and 35 pounds for a kill. Trout, 4 pounds. Any bait shop can give you the form. fishing wise, its been spotty. We need a warming trend. Also I woudlnt worry abtou the rain, watch the wind. We had wind 30+ on saturday it was kinda miserable out there. ------------------ John M johnm@stripersonline.com |

As we get to the last couple of weeks to the season before water temps dip below 50 and the fishing seems to become next to nothing
, the most consistent action will be at the Point. A few will still be caught at Oregon Inlet, still fewer at Hatteras Inlet and the Avon/North beach area. Concentrate your efforts on da Point area, either catch a Striper or Trout fish. |

Goog,
What town are you staying in? That might dictate where to fish as the fish are pretty spread out. There have been alot of stripers feeding on small menhaden just off the beach the last 2 days in the kitty hawk/southern shores area. Oregon inlet has been spotty the last week. I haven't fished the point area yet but the tackle shop reports are positive, as always. There have been small puppy drum and some speckled trout around also. Good luck. |

I'll add,Hatteras Inlet has been red hot here last few days.........
Pups, almost popped outta the same mould, all 18 inches, with and 18 and a halfer, once and a while.. Stripers hangin in the rip, with occasional caught on bait off the bar..Savfish gave a dynamite tip as well,I'm gonna take him up on it and giver a try today... The Point,is IMHO,my last option, but a gooden..... |

Drumdum, isn't access to Hatteras Inlet, on the Hatteras Island side, pretty much impossible except at very low tide? I haven't been there all Fall but that is what I seem to gather from reading the boards. I'm guessing that a beach runner can't get past the false point area.
And I'll agree, fishing the shoals/bar at False point when the structure is there is never really a "bad" option. [This message has been edited by Mudd (edited 12-17-2002).] |

I don't know what posters have said,Mudd,BUT,I can sure get around da corner with the suki at medium tide to catch dem stripers on metal..
And so could a few other folks... And we were catchen the pups on the false point itself.. A few folks caught stripers on the false point the day before as well.. I could be trecherousMSP at high tide, but I didn't see it at high tide(hint,hint,hint)..... ![]() |
