A friend has offered the keys to thier house in Nags Head anytime I'd like to go. I know about the reputation and fishing oportunities in OBX and Hatteras ... How about Nags Head? I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Fish Wish,Nags Head is a good spot to go to catch stripers.. You can take the beach road from Kitty Hawk all the way to Outter Banks Pier, and look for birds to tellya where they are.. Parking,at times can be a problem, once ya find em... You can also head for Oregon Inlet which ain't spittin distance from NH,they have been catchen plenty of em there, lures, bait, and eels.. Also,Pea Island could work for ya as well...There are charter boats in Oregon Inlet that go for stripers as well, unless ya got your own boat, then, there's a public launch... Plenty of options.....

Drumdum, Thanks for the response.
I won't be heading down that way until after the new year but want to get a handle on what to expect once I get there. How long do the stripers hang around during that time of year? I'll most likely fish Oregon Inlet because I fish Indian River Inlet here in Delaware and feel I have a handle on the structure. Unfortunately, I don't have a 4x4 but do have a truck. Are there places along the beach to pump your tires up or should I bring my own air? Also, I would think there are places to get beach tags ... right? Thanks again for the input. I truly do appreciate it. |

Don't know about after Jan,FishWish..
![]() Most of what I was just talking about is going on right now, with water temps droping the way they are I have to be Miss Cleo to be sure about Jan. If water temps don't drop too much more between now and then, they should still be there.. Air,Oregon Inlet fishn center has pump available. No need for beach tags, but if driving in KDH ya gotta buy a permit, but, beach is purdy trecherous(msp)there, two wheeler wouldn't make it anyway.. Oregon Inlet can be a little tough with 2 wheel also.. Unless you have a lot of experience with beach driving,be careful, tow bills are high.... Plenty of walkover spots on Pea Island, the catwalk on the bridge, along with the jetty can provide some good fishn as well.. ![]() |
