Hey guys,
I'm trying to plan a winter break for the family and we're thinking of renting a house on the beach in mid-Feb.
Can you tell me what the fishing might be like at that time of year and also what other activites there might be to do with a 7, 9 and 11 year old.
Many Thnaks,

BL

Where on the obx? It is really quiet here that time of year. Alot of the restaraunts are closed as are the mini golfs and tourist type activities. I have caught stripers on the beach that time of year (prespawn + fat) but don't count on it. If you have a boat you have a much better chance. On the other hand, if we get some decent weather you will have the beach all to yourselves.

Luke, Feb is the worst month of the year for fishing at the OBX. On certain days when the weather cooperates, a few Stripers, Trout, or maybe Puppy Drum can be caught for those really serious. The further south you go towards Ocracoke, the better the chance this will happen. As far as activities for the family, many stores and restuarants are closed during the Dec-Feb time frame. There is more avaliable in the northern area around Nags Head and less in the southern area around Ocracoke. I would strongly reccomend moving yout trip one way or another by a month. Mid Jan fishing is usually better and Mid March can be excellent.
