Am headed to Hatteras tonight. Am staying in the Village. Any tips on best spots to fish/places to eat/bait and tackle shops would be most welcome. Am primarily interested in finding stripers/drum/big blues - in that order. Thanks.

Well, if your in Hatteras Village, go back north on 12 and you will see Frisco Rod/Gun. There ya can get fresh bait if they got it, or you can go back up to Buxton and goto the Red Drum B&T. As far as the fishing goes, Buxton and the "point" is the spot for the drummies and bass. Just get in the conga line with everyone else and watch the fellas closely and see how they dance that oh so funny dance lol. My father is there right now fishing a little north of Buxton up near Avon and Ramp 34, doing pretty good he says with some stripers, a few puppies, and some trout. Pray for SW wind at the point and U should do ok. I'll be down from the 20th thru the 25th looking for Big Red. Good luck to ya.

Sw on the point.......northerly winds fish the beaches from rodanthe south......also look around OI lots of stripers inthe rips there....they will come on the beaches eventually. ------------------ John M johnm@stripersonline.com |

Ya ever try Quarter Deck,Wizardude??
Tackle shops:Try Pelcan's Roost,Frisco Rod and Gun,Dillon's Corner, and Frank and Fran's,all will giveya a fair shake!! Places to fish:The Point in Buxton,so they tell me,(Hate the sand,ya know? ) North Beach, what John said, there should be plenty of stripers there by the weekend.. Drummies are a good possibility there as well,as water temps are in low 60's still.. I'm thinkin also that there will be some stripers begining to show at Hatteras Inlet, but you'll need a boat for that,or a guide, send me a message and I'll put ya on some goodens,if ya want.. Another possibility would be Oregon Inlet by the jetty they have been slayin slot limit pups, few specks and some nice flounder. At night on catwalk of bridge they are catchin stripers as well.. Me,I'll be in my own secret spot, got another one yesterday,John, and a few more were caught as well... ![]() |
