I'm working on spring break info and am taking the week after easter off. I have a big interest in catching some fish. Is there anything at the outer banks worth coming down for? Will probably camp at the KOA in avon area. Please give me some hints on whether it's worth coming down or not. Scott

well, it will all depend upon the water temperatures. i had 2 fantastic weekends last april with big drum. i had about a dozen fish between 35" and 45" for both weekends and had another fish on that would probably gone over 50". the water temps were in the mid sixties and high tide was not too long after dark.

i don't remember a KOA at avon, there is one in salvo however. most of the fishing will be from cape hatteras south to ocracoke. it will depend upon the water temps more than anything else. april typically can be great and well worth the trip.

Kips right,Scott, action can be great.. Two aprils ago the fish were on top chasing bait!! I mean big fish.. I think something simular happened this yr.,too rough for me on the tube though.. Caughtem outta the shoals in Ockracoke instead... I also understand, they caught em on lures from the surf as well, last yr.. One way to be sure ta catch one if they aint at the point,is to take a ferry ride to Ockracoke and fish south beach on sw wind..OR if it's blowin ne try the north end.. As I understand it even John M. caught a couple that time of yr as well... So ya know dem rascals had ta be thiiiiiiiiiiick!!
