Like I said earlier, will be around Hatteras the 3rd week in Sept. Looks like I'll be driving "Old Salty".....
![]() Don't think the Nissan 4x4 likes the beach as well. Got that sucker buried to the doors on Ocracoke with less than 500 miles on it. Of course that was 1985, and it was my first attempt at driving the sand. Let's see, hadn't rained in 6 weeks, 10 inch drop off the ramp, 45 psi in Bridgestone 215/15 all terrain tires, and a total rookie behind the wheel........don't know what went wrong??? ![]() Did I forget to tell you it was my honeymoon? Sure did make a good first impression Especially when a guy in a old Ford Galaxie (biggest tires I ever saw on a car) pulled up and loaned me a shovel. Sat on the car and watched while I dug, jacked, dug....let some air out the tires, then made sure I filled the hole back in. Dude if you read this board Thanks", you taught me a lot. By the way, She's gone.....still got the truck ![]() ![]() So if any of you locals and Sol people, see me down there(probably with a confused look on my face, and a long haired brunette, 10 years younger than me ), please say "Hello". Haven't met but one person off this board so far.Everyone's been such great help, as you can tell, I'm really "boosted". I've done the sand at Oregon Inlet many years. Have done Ocracoke with a lot more success than my first trip. But yet to go to Cape Point. For some reason was always discouraged from going there by the locals I talked to. Heard all these horror stories about how hard a place it was to go yada, yada, yada. Since I was new to it, and had been stuck a couple of other places, just never went. My questions are............. Is it so bad?? Best entrance? ("Cape Point or Bust") ![]() North Beach, is it just the north side from Cape Point? Other places? You guys have answered a lot of questions for me, and hope I can return the favor in the future ![]() |

YEs its worth it. Th elocals were just putting ya off cause they didnt want another guy to learn what a great place it is best way to get there is Ramp 44.BTW brunettes are nice does she have a blonde sister about 6' tall ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ------------------ John M johnm@stripersonline.com [This message has been edited by John M (edited 08-23-2002).] |

Wizardude,I consider NB anything from Avon Beaches to Rodanthe Beaches.. Lots of big drummies and stripers caught from late Oct to Jan.,stripers being the later.. Point has good possibilies, but would stand back and watch first.. They can be animals out there..
Those north beaches and false point(near inlet) can produce as well as the point at times.. Most of that time,I will be on the planks, and when Dec hits,I'll be in the "float tube"catchen stipers. thankya.. ![]() |
