i'm a flyfisher heading south of the obx in the kure beach, carolina beach area. what are the prospects of hitting some fish in the surf with flies the first 2 weeks in august? any help greatly appreciated.

Two words. Hot and squat in the surf.
Now in the backwaters, you should find some speckled trout, sheepshead and last but not least puppy drum. Check with Seagull Bait and Tackle when you get there. They are around the curve past the pond at CB on the right. Just about the only game in town.  |
