hey derf,

it usually takes john a couple of days to recover from the drive AND all of the fish that he catches to respond to the board, so we'll be in the dark for a little while. the RDT board didn't have much to say about it, but i am as interested as you to find out what REALLY happened this weekend.

the water was 71 degrees and there were some spanish over 7 lbs caught. it is supposed to cool off here this coming week so maybe we will get the water temp back again and the drum will be back. not that it will do me any good as it is doubtful i will be doing any fishing before the middle of june (big day coming up - the end of my singleness) and there are just too many things going on.

look forward to seeing you again at hatteras...

A few drum were caught...sea mullet fishing was good in the hook (so we were told) and they had some puppy drum up at 43.

A week of SW has the water really warm...maybe too warm. This N wind this week should cool it back down.

Most of the drum we saw or cuaght were yearlings. Poppy did get a 45" Sat. morning.

Hope this helps you out..

I fished the point from Sunday 8pm - Mon 7am. I had 4 pups/yearlings in the 30-35" range through the night and 2 bluefish in the 10 lb range at first light. I only saw 1 citation fish come up - anywhere from 2-8 guys fishing. With no wind, little crowds and small fish I was able to use my 11'9" and 6500 mag. What a pleasure compared to holding the 1509. The water temp was 71 when I started and dipped to 69 in the early am. Did anyone see those big spanish? I saw the 2 Justin had and he said the other 2 were even bigger. Hopefully will get out tonight.

We left before Justin got those fish..he did say he had been seeing some fish skying out about 1/4 mile, big and silver...he thought they were kings.

Did see what we think a larger thresher come in and swirl on some bait...man that was AWESOME!! Judging from the tail...that shark had to be over 8'...the tail was HUGE!!

Joel had several fish Sun. night. Said no one was fishing...very nice conditions.

Fished last night from 530-800. We had a cold N wind and the water temp was 63. I saw 2 bigger bluefish landed and 0 drum. The wind has shifted to the SE here in Kitty Hawk. I met Joel out there Sun night - his friend caught the only citation.
