So far looks like possible high pressure building Thurs. Might mean light south winds but who knows. Since there is always Inlet effect currents there not even sure wind makes as much difference as at the point. Not sure if I'm there Thurs or Friday but better chance of getting decent bait on Friday. Wanna test this yellow label rocket fuel stuff out if I put all the parts back in right.

Dave, I look at it this way, a light southerly wind is better than a humpin northerly, especially this early.....btw I know the first blitz last year was on a NW but it was mid april not march

gonna try an experiment this weekend. My slosh30s usually have a red and white brake, I do have to thuumb it sometimes. So I am gonna put 2 reds in one reel see if no haveing to thumb it at all will make a sifference in distance.

Hi guys,
I just joined the board the other day. Will be fishing Hatteras and Ocracoke 3/29 - 4/6.

John M... In reference to the brakes, I just started learning a conventional with the SLOSH30. Got to the point of no thumb with 2 reds. Got brave and went to 2 whites. Having to thumb it nullified any distance gain for me. Too many blow-ups too. But, like I said, I'm new to the conventionals.

Denny

P.S. Nice pics and reports

John, I've tried every brake combo known to man. I use 2 reds. There always needs to be an equal balance. These are the most user friendly reels I've used. With anything else I end up tightening tension and negate any adavantage with lighter brakes. I have my tenion completely off. Never once had a backlash. I have though about cutting off or grinding off a small section of each brake. I used to do that with my Abu phenolic brakes. Of course those brakes wear down anyway.

I think in my SVH20 and 30 I have one red and one white or both whites. I tried all red and it got to the point I could feel the brakes really holding my cast up. Its been a while since I had the reels apart, Ill have to check.

Good Luck to you all.
