Wink

This Yankee worked out a compromise with the wife that will hopefully get me to Da Banks the week after Easter. I hope to be renting this palace down in Hatteras Village. Trouble is we have to take her Pathfinder instead of my buggy. In as little space as this thing holds, what do I take? I got a 1509 Heaver and what I usually use up here on Long Island. What else? terminal gear? how do you guys air up on Ocracoke? Any info would be most helpful, but this is a family vacation not a Fling.
Thanks,
Pete (Shag)

Three rods are a must have for your trip to have most everything covered.

1) A heaver, 11-12 ft, capable of fishing 6-10 ounces plus bait on a standard Drum Rig. Most of your Drum fishing will be done with this and a chunk of fresh menhaden. It should have 230 yds plus of 15-25 lb test line. Spinning and conventenial both work. Your 1509 (breakaway?) would be perfect.

2) A rod 9-11 feet for throwing various lures from 2 ounces to 4 ounces. Bluefish, of any size from 1-18 lbs, are always a possiblity. It can also be used for 2-5 ounces baitfishing for kingfish (yum) and blowtoads (yeech ) if you so desire.

3) A 6-7 foot spinning rod with 8-12 lb test line for throwing lures 1/2 to 1 ounce for trout or little blues. It can also be used for flounder fishing dragging a 1-2 ounce flounder rig across the bottom.

That would be minimum...like playing golf with a one wood, two irons, and a putter.

Cool

Thanks Guys!
Any info you can add is greatly appreciated.
This game is totally new to me, other than what I've read on this board. Is gettin fresh bait a problem? Any fishing close to Hatteras Village beaches? I guess when I get there I'll see the structure for myself. Again Thanks,
Shag
