Question

I do most of my fishing in South Hampton, N.Y. and i wanted to venture for some red drum. Could somebody tell me where Hatteras is and any good spots on the surf.

as johnm said it's on the outer banks of NC, here's a Link
http://www.outerbanksfishing.com/index.htm

From where you are it's a heck of a drive. I live in Middlesex county NJ, and it's between an 8-10 drive down there depending on where in the OBX you want to go. For Drum, Hatteras Island (at least 50 miles long itself)which is where you want to go is 10 hours from where I am.

The most famous place there for Drum is Cape Point which is in the town of Buxton by the Hatteras Lighthouse.

It's a beautiful place, OBX is a string of barrier islands over 100 miles long.

If drum hunting Assateauge Island in Maryland is also a good place and ALOT closer, at least 6 hours.

If you need any thing else just PM me

Fro drum watch the water temps when it goes under 70 the hawg will start to move, 65 or so being prime.

I live in Pa just north of trenton I can make buxton in 8 hours on average, been as fast as 7 in the fall and spring when there is no traffic. I make 15 trips a year, always looking for company for the ride if yer interested let me know.
