Reports of many of stripers at this Nags Head pier today.

Incidently, this is a primo site design.

Check out fishing reports, and click on the number on the calendar for details and pictures.

Question

Water temps at 66 degree's....man the NE wind must be humping down there....

Dropping 10 degrees in a day...66 degrees, w/ a N/NE wind that's drum conditions...

Come on fall.... ;D

Cool

Well..dropping water temps and a good NE wind was on the OBX this weekend. Reminded me alot of fall...

I mangaged one little striper..about 22" or so, but on the piers they had some of these...

Come on fall...

Thumbs down

This SUCKS!!
I was just down a week ago on both Nags Head and Avalon piers and it was squat fishing.
Only thing good to happen on the piers that week was lunch at Nag Head Pier Restaurant.

The drum are landed from the pier with a large hoop net that is lowered down. As far as release, they are thrown back headfirst, the key is to make sure the fish dives in head first. I only fished Avon pier a few times last fall and caught 1 40" fish. The pier regulars were extremely helpful in helping me land the fish.

Beachboy....that ain't me in that picture with that drum..I was chasing or trying to chase amberjack that weekend....

That drum was caught by a local that was out on the pier that Sat.

Most drum will come in by net on the pier...sme will drop them head first- others will lower them back in the hoop-net and when they re-vive they will swim out of the net back to deeper water...

It is a nice fish....hope to run into a few of them this fall.
