This will be my first trip to Hatteras, I'll be there July 15-22. I know this is not the ideal time to be surf fishing the area but the wife is due with our third baby in November so that time is kinda off limits.
![]() I will be renting a house in Rodanthe right near the beach and don't know too much about the area. My question is how important is bringing the 4 wheel drive down? Or can I just trek to the beach from the house or drive to a nearby area with the van? I will be vacationing with my cousin and his kids and the plan, according to the wives, is to use the 2 minivans - there's more room and one has a vcr(11 hr drive). I, on the other hand, have some trouble being near the beach for one full week without the truck. Any help would be appreciated. J.T. |

Tell you wife you're not going without the 4X4. If you leave it home you'll regret it the second you get there!!
There's a bunch of beach to drive. |

I have to agree with Jack Straw; if you don't bring the 4x4 you will regret it !!
even if you don't bring it there is great fishing in Rodanthe . stop at Hatteras Jacks or any of the other fine tackle shops there for info . P.S. you can also check out rodanthe pier . derf |
