Hope the weather reprot changes for you guy's . I just got back and it was supposed to get ugly down there fri. sat. & sun. The water temp. lust got up to 56 degs. at the point last monday and the wind went back north east and cooled it down alittle. I caught some pups in the evenings but the place is infested with doggies. There were some large fish caught monday evening but that was it for the point. The south end of ocracoke seems to be the most consistant spot still , the temps were 62 degs. while I was there. I fished there monday afternoon and left at 6:30pm (had to take the family to dinner) and there were 5 or 6 big drum caught right at sunset.(just my luck I missed them by an hour.)

Make sure you look at the doggies before you unhook them , there are a lot of spineies right now and I made the mistake of not checking one right at sunset one night, I grabed it by the side of the head and the sucker slapped me with it's tail and drove that spine through my new splash jacket and about an inch into my forearm . Not a good feeling. Good luck fella's hope it works out for ya's. "SWISS"

Yer bones were right!

Here's an excerpt from Saturdays Red drum report:

Big drum after big drum after big drum, Why didn't I call in sick. The bite started around eleven this morning and will stop around Midnight( just about the time I will be arriving at the point.) Hundred plus big drum with many small puppies and yearlings were landed in the mist of the holiday weekend crowd. Small bluefish and my favorite Spinies dog sharks kept the bite going and the tangles going on. If big fish were not your bag of fun, than try the sea mullets and blow toads on the south beach and mullet up at Avon. Some flounder on the south beach with small bluefish. Today was one of those day when nobody went fishless, but Barry and ... etc. etc..

Hey John,
Well it had to happen. As I am on my way home after a week down there they kill the fish. I swear if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all. It sounds like they absolutely killed the fish down there. Well I missed out unless the doggies count!!! HAHA!!! Well I just wanted to say thank you again for the help and insights that you were able to give to me and when you are able to put away the bait and the heaver I can let you know where to plug up some stripers in Jersey. Take it easy and I will e-mail you this week. Thanks again.

Mark,
Not sure if I'm there Friday or Saturday depending on work. Hope to see you guys if your still there. Think Gary said hes got to work Sat night. Looks like nice warming trend starting Friday. Means southerly flow.
Will have broken Loomis in hand.

CG, I took off Sat night so I will get one more day in. I am sure the bite will start about noon on Sunday just as I am leaving. I have to be home and then back to Fredericksburg, VA for work Sun. Night.

We are considering ocracoke thursday low tide since the water is still warm down there.

See ya , Gary

Thanks Mark, When fish are in its cool to throw a small peice of bait 3 miles but put a dripping bunker head on which casts like a boat sail and watch those biggins roll by those small baits in pursuit of a head.
Hey save the inerds though so Gary can scramble them up with the eggs.
