Fished Ocracoke both ends Fri am to Sun am 4/6-4/8. Water would warm to 60 during day but then down to upper 50s at night. Pups and small blues. I had no good runs however, Humdrum landed a 45 incher Thurs night at 10 pm and 8andbait lost one in afternoon. Guess I was a day late. Winds were SW mostly and perfect. Nice to meet and fish with those guys. They are true pros and cast like it. Cook a mean breakfast also. Thanks for the grub. Did hear of a 50 incher caught behind our backs Fri night at 7:30 around the corner. You could not wade the bar at high so that was only good spot. Spinnys took over the beach Sat so went to North end which was still tad cold. Hope those guys got into them after I left. Probably a good bite as I write. Beautiful day at beach though.
FISH ON!

We got to S. end of Ocracoke 5:00 Sun afternoon. Between 700 and 830pm there were about 7 drum caught for 15 or so guys. I had 1 that went 40" and I measured another that went 44. About 2am little sharks moved in. Ended up catching a pup around 9am Mon. Supposedly they bit around the pm high tide Sat also.

I fished the point from Monday (4/23)afternoon thru Tuesday night.

The big drum bite like over the weekend never materialized. But Monday at dusk one pod came through and a few dozen were hooked up, but only a few were landed. Monday night and Tuesday at dusk were good for maybe a dozen more all together, contrary to the RDT report!

Puppies were available both days if you could get through the bluefish, doggies, and spinies. I caught 5 all between 30 and 33 inches.

Small bluefish were plentiful in the morning and evening and periods in between, too. Pink stingsilvers worked best for me. All you cared to catch and then some.

Caught 1 large blue around 12 lbs - it wasn't as skinny as many this time of year and kicked my butt on my spinning rod.

And caught 1 44 x 26 inch drum Tues night after the crowd left. Butt kicked again.

Then the front came through, NE 25, rain and cold. So I'm home now.

Always fun, even the point. I love it.

Sore aching muscles and good memories.

The weekday crowd is a treat as they are mostly locals who know how to do it and respond well to courtesy.
