I know of some stripers (pretty big) that were being caught (boat) middle of Feb to beginning of March down at the Cape Lookout shoals.
Have those fish ventured that far south before when the water cooled from the Point north in prior seasons? Any Ocracoke reports? That's a real shame what happened down there this winter, I sort of thought a cold winter might halt the fishing there. Hearing of fish caught at Ocracoke at Thanksgiving certainly foretold of the early, cold winter. |

Doug I hear the bass are on the move north. Looking at the water temps and the winds, there could very well be a drum bite.......its abotu 60 degrees and with the Southerly breezes in the forecast, we might see the first big drum of the season
I will be down there this weekend and give it a try.......forget bass its drummin time ![]() ------------------ John M johnm@stripersonline.com |

John let us know how you do down there. it looks like there could be a bite any day down there. I am still interested in going in a week or two depending how conditions look.
