A few fish showed up on the beaches today around Kitty Hawk. I saw about 12-15 caught for about 20 anglers. Nothing huge - biggest probably mid teens. Casting distance was the main factor. Two guys w/ heavers (mine was at home) had probably 8-10. They were outcasting me by a solid 50 ft. I managed to land one and dropped another. Both came within the first 4 cranks on the reel. Winds were SW, seas flat and it was sunny. The bulk of the school was about 4 good casts off the beach.

I didn't see anyone throwing bait. Fresh bunker is hard to come by around Kitty Hawk. They were using 6 oz hopkins and a spoon made by atom. Check my post on the main board for what happened on Wednesday. |
