Im planning on going to NC,(Southport) on easter. What is the striper migration around there like. Have they all moved North by then. It would be ashame for me to miss any action while im there. Ive asked this question earlier but it seems there aren't any real gamefish around down there at that time. if any of you have any Info on what I can expect, that would be great. And please don't tell me to fish with frozen shrimp. Ive done that during the summer and it seems thats all they keep telling me to do. i can't handle another Pinfish Blitz. I did however manage a
nice size Fluke on a Finness last august but that was about it. Thanks Ant! |

I dont know where south port is. But I know at hatteras we will be fishing for drum then. There may be a stray bass around, but my understadnig is that there really isnt much of a striper run inthe spring....besides I would rather catch a drum than a bass

You should be able to run up the Cape Fear to Wilmington and pick up bass around the Exon docks. Southport has excellent speckled trout, huge flounder and great big assed black drum fishing. If you can get out to and around Bald Head Island there are spanish, kings and drum to be had. It will be too early for Cobia. The usuall small fare, mullet spot and such should be available if the temps are like normal. But, when has this season been normal?

You can also check out the web-site for the North Carolina Offshore-Inshore Fishing board. I think it is www.ncoif.com. They usually report on the fishing action on the southern shores of NC.
