I was just curious if you guys know where they go in the winter. Do they go to the wrecks offshore or do they Migrate south to florida or somewhere? I have never heard much about their migratory habits.

Supafly,
I have heard in the past of big drum holding off wrecks. I seem to remember hearing last year that some bottom fisherman around the wrecks hooked up to a few during the winter/early spring while fishing for other bottom species off Hatteras. Wormy |

Ahh, Jeez. I got to tell you guys everything.
![]() It is a well known fact that the North Beach drum go to Cozamel for the winter season. That is how they come back in the early spring with such a bronze tan. Now, what other questions can I answer? ![]() |

I'm pretty sure they hanging in that 60 degree isotherm along the Gulf stream since every year the first time that water hits the beach in spring or late winter there are drum in it. A good SW blow for a few days can bring these fish in even in February which is exactly what happened last Feb.
Of course the Stripers are mixed in also. COME ON SPRING Critter Gitter |
