I had a ride in a friends H1. No thanks. It was very loud inside, and the seats were cramped. The center engine console takes up a huge amount of room. Very slow. Very wide.
You'll have much more room inside in a Tahoe than in an H1. Yes, the H1 has great offroad capabilities (given the limits of its geometry). But you just don't need that much capability for the beach, and it comes with a lot of drawbacks. |

I think that center console is the transmission, no?
9 MPG ..... no. Not me. The Quigley will do better then that. I don't live on the beach, the nearest drivable beach is 25+ miles. |

It is that.
The transmission, I suspect, and whatever pipes supply air to the tires for remote inflation and deflation. Judging by the earlier 7'6" reference, that's 6' and a couple of inches for me to stretch out, plus 12" - 14" depth and the width of the truck for boxes of whatever, across the second row seating. And either side of the snoring angler for storage, too. Not so shabby at that. I've seen one H1 decorated as the "Wedding Chapel By The Sea," presumably a minister who does beachside weddings. I don't think I've seen any other H12 on the beach, though. |

the center is EVERYTHING! the tranny, drive train, ect. there is no exposed frame under there, its just smooth metal so nothing gets ripped off on the trail. IFS and IRS, 6.8L diesel engine, 190HP and i think over 450 ft.lb of torque... things like a giant go cart when driving. i like 'em, but prefere my FJ over it anyday.
