So the 3.5oz Floater will stay on the surface at all times, you can give the plug a pause, and it will remain on the surface?
And also, do you happen to know if its a good producer, like have you fished it, and done well with it? Thanks!!

So close to a floater at least one of them actually does. Had one returned recently because it "didn't sink". Took it for myself. But yes, floater or not, it's REAL hard to hang up even very shallow water.

Can you list a few ways you fish it that tend to work best for you? Like will a dead slow retrieve work? And I've never walked the dog with a saltwater plug, though I have with freshwater. From what it is in freshwater, its basiclly a pencil popper-like retrieve, but calmer, and slower, is this how its done in saltwater as well?

That's Funny!Seriously though... SS are actually 50 CC of helium because they are heavier than most needles.

He makes some great floating needles. You will need to keep your eye on the BST if you want one though!

The small Choopy Needle stays up top as well as any I've used, the Stubby Gibbs also stays up top well. If you cast out, as soon as the plug hits the water, reel up the slack and begin a slow steady retrieve with the rod tip up, that keeps it up top. They work best in calmer waters, (under 2 ft. waves), after that, the Superstrikes and Habs dig in deeper and handle big water better.

In NJ i like the thinner needles...some builder's needles could pass for any kind of baitfish but when the fish are on the eels i like mine thin- i think choopys are perfect, superstrikes, gags...i been having lots of success with Tony Stetzkos needles also, the 1.75 oz model.
Seems like up north the guys throw the larger needles...they could pass for anything, they are almost as large as the pencil we throw here in the spring ...even when the bass in NJ are garbaging feeding you could catch with them. Its good to have one or two of the big heavy sinkers for the nights when conditions seem unfishable. |

I find a floater like the 3oz RI Popper needle I have doesn't cast half as good as the 2 oz AH needles or 2.5 oz Salty needles.
