A scuba weight belt is the way to go. Mine was under $15.00 and has a stainless lever type buckle that quickly releases with a flip of the hand. I figure if a diver can hang 50 or so lbs off of it than its more than strong enough for a wader belt

even from my trout fishing days i thought the store bought wading belts were junk. im new to the surf but i just picked up a 2" nylon tool belt. its heavy duty and was like 5 bucks.
