Default Green Tomato Pickles

We,ve got a bushel basket of green tomatos. I wanted to try pickling some of the small ones using Groby's recipe. Has anyone tried this before? Any tweaks recomended for tomatos?

I used to buy half sour or sour green tomato pickles by a company called 'Batemp' or something like that. They were great, I'm hoping that Grobys recipe will put me somewhere in the ballpark. I added some vinegar like SIM suggests and a couple of red Asian peppers to each jar. I'll give them a couple of weeks and see what happens. Tommorow I'm going to try some relish with some of them also. I've got a bunch of them, you can only eat so many fried green tomatos!

An alternate selection would be picalli which is a green tomato relish. Half sour is best, but there are sweet interpretations that are gross.

Use the half sour alternative to the Groby recipe.

I'm jealous. I used up all my green tomatoes on a big fish fry I had. They were very good but I always like a few jars them pickled.
