Hello,

Something that helped me alot is lifting weights. Light weight and lots of reps. Use free weights if you can and not machines. Start with 10lbs dumbells, 3 sets of 12 reps is a good starting point. Increase weight when it gets easy. Always lift light weight an alot of reps! Shoulder shrugs are great but dont roll your shoulders just raise them up like you trying to sqeeze your head with you shoulders. Start with 25lbs dumbells and 3 sets of 20 reps. But the best thing you can do for your upper body is swimming. If you swim one or two times a week you see a huge change in over all pain and fatigue. Start the morning with a good stretch and some icyhot, take a few Tylenol.

Goodluck,

Chris

I was with ya till we got to the Tylenol (Acetaminophen).
This stuff on a regular or long term basis will damage your liver and kidneys. Please do not use this stuff as a daily regimen, it is deadly.
We need our liver and kidneys to survive. Dialysis is VERY expensive and you die without a functioning liver.
Also, real ice is much more effective than Icyhot for reducing inflammation.
I have a few sizes of gel packs in the freezer... The cheapo ones that are something like $10-$15 for a 10"x14" one. If you do not use it for a dart board, it will last a very long time.
Please remember to stretch after you exercise too.
I always forgot (okay I was too lazy) to do this, and I got so tight I can't reach my shoulder blades from underneath, and barely from above.
Not good at all!

Socalkid,
What exercises are you doing with the 10lb dumbells?
Flys or something else?
I got smashed up fall of 07, so I have to begin the healing process, and expect it to take a couple to three years to get back to where I was.
The shrugs are a great idea! I used to do those every other day, all year, 50lbs 4 sets 25 reps. Now I can't hold the 50 lbs in each hand

Which shoulder are you (& everyone else) are you experiencing pain? The one holding the butt end of the rod or the foregrip/reel? I have had a sore rotator cuff for about 7 years and although initially it was damaged from playing rugby 13 yrs ago, now it hurts when I fish. It's the shoulder that controls the butt end hand while spin casting & might be aggravated with repeaatd, fast strokes. When I cast convench I switch and hold the reel w/ my left hand, and if ggin/jigging it' sfinebut with 8 & bait not so fine.

I fish plugs spinning and jiggs conv. I suspect the violent snap of the spinning rod doing the damage .

The bursitis and the frozen shoulder is back 24/7. Time to call it a season soon.

ive been fishing with a dislocated clavicle(right side, im right handed) this whole year.

the only thing thats going to keep me from the water is surgery...which i wont be doing to my shoulder.

this has not prevented me from casting out my 10ft'er or using my bait caster from the boat in villamoura, portugal.

no pain, no gain.

i hope you and me both get better soon.

christ0pherr,
Why do you need surgery to put a dislocation back in place?
Is it possible for someone like an osteopath to pop things back into place?
I know it would be terribly painful and you would be very sore for a couple of weeks afterward, but it would beat getting cut.
We have a move we use to put a dislocated shoulder back in place and it works very well.Just wondering if there is one of these moves for your condition and you haven't found "that person" yet.
Best wishes fixing your clavicle.

UPDATE:

I went to see a Sports Med doc, who ordered an arthogram MRI for my left shoulder. Results: partially torn labrum, partially torn rotator cuff, and tendonitis. Went to PT twice already to strengthen it. Therapists thinks my inury 13+ years ago may have done it, as he thinks I could have broken some ribs along with this too. Now I feel like an idiot to have ignored this for so long. Trying to avoid surgery for now, at least until the spring. Oh well, at least I can still fish!
