You might want to think about that before you blow the $200 on the wrong reel. And I wouldn’t use any of the advice people are giving you because they’re just assuming that you’re going to be doing what they’re doing, which is probably incorrect.

That’s why there are so many opinions. Because all of the "experts" (laugh) on this board don’t bother to ask the right questions. What a sad waste of time.
Notice that the first post is older than a year. I just picked the thread up because i didn't wanted to open a new one for my question. Can you answer it? What's the bottom diameter of the 2500 spool?

Default Stradic

I say, save the money and get the newly renovated Sahara.

I have 3 Stradics. Two 3000's and a 4000. I'm an avid bass angler, and the 3000 is a great size, although the 2500 is a rock solid choice as well. My problem with the Stradic, is that all 3 models that I have, the bail seems to stick every once in awhile. It doesn't create problems, and the reel still works fine, but I would expect better from a $150+ dollar reel. I wouldn't buy another Stradic, and unfortunately didn't use the 2nd enough before I bought the 3rd to realize that this most like occurs on all Stradics. If I were you, I'd save the money and buy a Symetre or a Sahara, or wait 'til you have a few more bucks and get the Sustain.

......just my opinion.

Default Spool Capacities

If you go to Shimano's website, you can get all the specs for all models. Not sure of the exact link, but just Google Shimano Reels, go to the Shimano site, click on products, then spinning reels and you will see all the reels to the right. Click on the specifications and you can compare the different models. Great stuff.

The 3000 has a slightly larger spool capacity than the 2500, but not much.

The question is if the bigger spool capacity is caused by a wider or just a deeper spool.

I recently got the Stradic CI4 in the 2500 size, teamed it up with a carrot stick....light as a freaking feather & smooth as silk, great for weightless senkos, slider rigs etc.
