they have a long history with him plunking everything in pinstripes. No one ever said they didn't know he was a great pitcher.

Philly fans boo Santa claus. Who's classy

It was clear on TV. It was even written about.

"
Thousands of fans made the journey from Philadelphia to the Bronx yesterday to see the Phils take on the storied New York Yankees in the first game of the World Series. Shortly after Yanks pitcher CC Sabathia threw his first pitch at 8:01, the crowd let the Phillies fans know how they would be received.
"Phillies suck!" they shouted."

It's true, whether you want to believe it or not.

Somebody blogged about it, so it's true. This is what we've come to?
I was sitting next to what looked like the Phillies family section, they sat down the whole game mostly and were not troublemakers, and were left alone.
I never heard that chant, that's a Boston thing.

Maybe you missed the part where I said that I heard it with my own ears, on national TV. (just like everyone else who was paying attention at that time) It also happened to be the exact time mentioned in the story.

Haha, maybe? It was a group chant, sounded pretty organized on tv, and it went on for a while. Maybe it was stronger near wherever they had the mics.

I'll admit I didn't like it when I heard it, I was a lil surprised it got to that point so early, but I thought, oh, the Phillies fans will get them back for it when they come to town!

I gave my buddy (a steelers fan) crap for years about waving a stupid towel around to cheer for a team, and then some tard in the phillie's marketing department decided to start handing out white towels at playoff games. I hate them.

When opposing teams choose to get introduced individually at the Linc, the whole stadium shouts "sucks!" after each player's name... It's a beautiful thing.

Hi KGJ-

I knew this topic would get everyone talking (anything which shows one side vs. the another will!)
So, your question... I was trying to imply two points, first being that I don't have a problem using the word suck (I just feel that saying that Derek Jeter sucks when he is one of the consummate ball players of this decade is just crazy). Would the fans say that someone like Mickey Mantle sucks? (I'm sure that some on this forum will- just because).
Secondly, I was playing with the word and what rhymes with it , as to say the hell with them all.

Hi Windknot-
Pedro asked for it when he basically called the Yankees out when he was at Boston being interviewed, after hitting a couple batters.. big difference there. Isn't there a saying (sort of) "You asked for it, you got it" ?

Hi Doug C-
A friend of mine was at Game 1, on the field, 1st base side. He honestly said he didn't hear chants like that. I'd imagine that unless the entire stadium is chanting something, a smaller chant might not be heard a good distance away.

Hi Bernie12-
Sort of funny if you're just trying to say Yankees suck, in general. Pathetic that a young kid; maybe 12, is shouting at Yankees fans to shut up and trying to get the chant going that he obviously has heard before. What about teaching a kid good sportsmanship for two great teams that earned their spots in the World Series?
