Default Flicking the fish on the Kayak

Gday guys, I’m new to the site, but i saw this particular forum and it brought back good memories. I’m from down under, and kayak fishing hasn't really taken off here. A few years back, a mate and i used to live right on this little beach, well away from commercial fishing, for that matter well away from any other form of fishing. A couple of times a week we would go out in our pride and joy (did not have a boat at this point in time), a two man open top ocean Kayak, with hand reels (those little plastic circles with fishing line). We would take it about 50 meters out and then work our way into a little sand patch about 20 meters offshore. Every single time without exception we would go out for about an hour and come back with about 40 of these big beauties:

We both came from big families, and we were all very keen on fish, so they always all got eaten. I suppose the point of this is just the sheer practicality and affordability of Kayak fishing. We now own a bigger boat and fish game and deep sea, as well as inland, but even after spending tens of thousands on big boat with big fancy fishing rods and gps systems and the like, i still believe that the best fun, and most rewarding fishing was those times spent on the $500 kayak with $5 hand reels. I am interested on anyone else's views on this, and if they have found the same thing?

Cheers,

Welcome to the site.

I removed your link and inserted a pic of what I could find with a google search. Let us know if it's the fish you're talking about.
