  1. I have about 10 different outfits. So it depends I what I feel like taking . I generally take 3 outfits to the sea: 1) 7' 1pc ugly stik paired with a shimano spheros 5000FA which I use for catching bait and sometimes small fish like grunts and snappers. 2)10' 2pc lamiglas tri-flex with a shimano baitrunner 4500B which I use to fish with live bait and no sinker during the day. At night I generally use it to fish dead bait 3)11' 6" 2pc lamiglass fiberglass custom rod(made by one of SOL's members ) paired with a Penn 950SSM which I use to fish dead bait and go after the monsters. Its heavy and sometimes after a while it hurts my wrists .
  2. Wow. The pictures of the ones I see these guys catching are way bigger than the ones I catch or have seen caught. .
  3. I believe this is what you guys call GTs. We call them horseeyes. Are they the same?
  4. Ok. I mostly catch and use jacks and pilchards. But we sometimes use crabs, congas, grunts, wilts. When I get the chance I also buy some squid from Fisherman's corner.
  5. Well we normally catch snappers, grunts, sharks, skeetes(what they can manta/sting rays), horseeyes(I guess what they call GT's), tarpon, mackarel and nuff congas. Do you find bait on the south coast? How often and when do you fish?
  6. Well I live in St. Lucy so I mainly fish there. I usually fish Animal Flower Cave, River Bay, North Point, Crab Hill and Pie Corner. How often do you fish and how often do you catch?
  7. Hey rbfishing I have neither reel but have a preference for shimano reels. In my opinion they work great. I'm from Barbados too. I never thought I'd see the day when I would find another Bajan on this site . Where do you fish?
  8. What were you experiences with the Shimano Baitrunner?
  9. Thanks for the info guys. I was looking around on Cabelas and I was thinking of buying some mirrorolure top dogs(red/white,green/white/silver). I also saw some Luhr-Jenson Krocodile Spoons, Johnson Silver Minnows and Acme Kastmaster Spoons. Would I need to purchase each of these spoons or would one type be sufficient. I was also thinking of a tsunami talking popper and a atom atomizer. Will these be productive for our fishing environment.
  10. Hi Guys, I'm strictly a bait fisherman but I'm buying some stuff online and thought I'm throw in a couple of plugs/lures to try them out. The problem is I have no idea what to buy, what colors are best.what plug/lure will catch what fish and what action do I use to reel in the plug/lure. On this forum I've seen people mention bombers, needles, poppers, pencils e.t.c. I'm pretty much lost . The fish that can be caught where I fish include barracuda, tarpon, mackarel, manta ray, horseeye jack, shark and red snappers. The fish usually caught with the most frequency are horseeye jacks, red snappers and barracudas. The live bait in the area are pilchards, small jacks and small grunts. I live in Barbados so I figured the guys in this forum would have success catching similar type fish.
  11. I see you bought your reel already. I too want to purchase this rod. The reel I will be buying is a Shimano Baitrunner 4500B. It weighs 22.2oz. Let us know when you receive the rod and how it performs.
  12. Ok Guys. So Basically I can try some poppers, top water plugs, pencils, pencils, bombers and some metals. So now how do I "work" them? Do I just cast a plug/lure and reel in either fast/slow or vary between the two?
