Two bruisers from this weekend. We had a cold front come through a few days earlier and seemed to kick up the bite.

I have the 12', the 14' seemed to much to be able to load/unload by myself. I've enjoyed it so far, it does extremely well on canals/ponds near home. I've taken it out on the South Carolina coast in the marshes and estuaries and it does pretty well, even in relatively heavy current. I'm able to fly fish off off it easily. Still waiting to take it off the beach or through the inlet into near shore situation.

The zman trout eye in red and the trout trick paddle tails are one of my go to set ups. The minnowz also matches nicely. Fishes nicely with a variety of retrieves. I’ve caught fish bumping it on the bottom as well as strait retrieve and everything in between.
-
Dry dropper is still my go to in that situation, sometimes need to change length between the two to get the right depth. I’m not the most sophisticated trout fisherman, but I’ve always done pretty well with the dry/dropper in most moving water situations.

Ok, this makes sense, thank you! Going to give this a shot tonight.

Thanks. I was considering building one for a upcoming GT trip and hadn’t seen a ton of info on them in #12. I built an affinity X in #10 that I’ve been pretty happy with. The vision rods look nice, anyone carry them stateside?

I always use a mono/flouro leader when using braid. Haven't fished enough braid without leader to know if it affects the bite or not. I care mostly about the abrasion resistance, braid under tension will get cut pretty easily. I used to use braid -> swivel -> Leader, but switched to FG and haven't looked back.

Great looking board. I was between the L2 and the Bote Rackham, ended up going with the Bote.

Just picked up one of these, as well as the savage gear equivalent. Interested to hear if anyones been using them. -
Have any of you guys ever used a CTS affinity X #12, was wondering how they compare to the typical favorites (NRX, meridian).

What’s your guys technique for pushing the buck tail back? I was thinking of giving these a shot tonight using a ballpoint pen casing or similar.
