  1. Sorry, the RR used them to weight the Loco so the wheels would grab the track and pull a load. The bigger and heavier the load, the more weight the Loco needed to keep the wheels from spinning with traction.
  2. Same thing I use my way too many rods and reels for. Basically nothing special. I have way too much "stuff". Someday I'll make some bullets. That was the plan.... but... you know.
  3. Yes. And next time I pass your area, I'll give you more. I'll pm when I do. Stay well
  4. When I was a kid, a million years ago, I picked my low tide snags regularly. There was always sinkers and jigs. I gave away a few hundred pounds and kept a few never to be moved again bins of sinkers. A railroad guy neighbor who retired ,gave me locomotive lead bricks 75 lbs each. For the 75 lbs I'll take 25 lbs of goods when you make stuff for me. Keep the rest. Good deal. If I live a thousand years, Ill have enough.
  5. Yes,same as last 2 seasons. Caught a couple that were so cold they didn't jump. Ice on guides.
  6. If they catch on, I'll get mine with a magnet and string.
  7. Many off the shelf rifles shoot moa at 100 yds. Its the 500+ yds shot that drives up equipment costs tremendously. The knowledge to use the equipment is most times lacking. I'm including reloading and bench equipment in the equation. They all contribute to hitting a 20" gong at 1000 yds. Expensive hobby.
  8. I've been out 2x since ice off on my neighborhood lake. No fish for me. Why? IDK.....
  9. I've been told I should use straight fluorocarbon for walleye. I've been told use fluorocarbon leader and not plain old ande pink. I've been told my green braid is not great - both color and brand. IDK... Any given day.....
  10. I avoid a spot like this on the river. Slide and drop into 3' of water. My legs just don't work there. Sorry couldn't be more helpful.
  11. God bless you and stay well!
  12. At the local level of government, there is waste in most administration and management of anything and everything. From paving to procurement, waste water management, fleet management, etc etc etc. There is professional liability coverage in case an official is held to account. Taxpayers fund the stupidity and graft coverage so officials can continue to defraud. You are correct!
  13. Or maybe create problems we could live with more easily. Every solution seems to create another problem lately.
  14. In the past year, I was accused of being where I didn't belong. I knew the accuser and why this was done. I didn't do the expected- drag them down the stairs and out the building! What these dickheads didn't expect was calm and my move. I notified all government agencies re the breach of security and the now compromised medical and other personnel records in my connected office. I looped in the Board, Police Cheif and every official I could. The boss went nuts! I'm still here and my office was moved to a more "secure" location!
  15. Holy ****, we work in the same ****ing Town for the same ****ing criminal!
  16. Yes, these are possibilities. I believe they'll cut me a deal to train one of their wives or children for my job!
  17. Yes good advice. I've always been a bit course. I'm always the one in the trenches. I should write a book about my experience with local government.
  18. As long as I can choose my last day!
  19. I had meaningful and enjoyable employment in the past. I know what it's like. I'm glad for you! God Bless!
  20. I'd light up one of them if it would help! It certainly would be entertaining and make my day.
  21. It is literally a political environment. Elected officials can appt. whomever they please, and Board approval of their pay and pkg, is guaranteed. Party doesn't mater. They get sworn in and the corruption begins!
  22. So yesterday, at work, I reached the boiling point. I work in a unpleasant and political BS environment, as most do. Management clearly favored their newly appointed staff, so I just had to say it. "So you're all the new in crowd." "Inexperienced" "Incompetent" "Insincere" "Yup, got it. Just give me my marching orders and get me out of this room". It didn't go over well. But hey, I'm a newly minted senior, by age, and largely not responsible for my mouth. Funny thing is - they may pkg me out, since in near retirement and not a "team player". I hope so. Had to vent.
  23. My new Penn had the noise only when reeling with a bit of tension. The issue was a dry line roller. Oil the roller. No more issue.
