  1. It's been a while since I've fished the piers so I've kinda forgot. I wanna say they are pretty much gone by August and come back in the fall.
  2. Just came. Got a 7ft casting tsunami airwave on sale for $50. First tsunami rod for me. Seems a bit whippy compared to the daiwa harrier that I broke. Pairing it with my zillion for flounder/reds/trout with bucktails and jughead's + gulp.
  3. Supposedly tackledirect has changed their entire computer system and it didn't go very smoothly. I just ordered a rod and it's out for delivery 2 days later.
  4. Have been using my zillion SV TWS for a few years. No issues. I keep the levelwind lubed and break it down to make sure it's all good every year.
  5. I want to pick up some J flouro. Looks like a good price. I spooled up some J braid grand. Haven't tried it yet though.
  6. Shimano Sedona is probably the cheapest reel with non pot metal gears.
  7. I've tried z man shrimp a few times. I want them to work. I want to be able to replace gulp. Gulp just flat out catches fish better than anything else though. Gulp shrimp are so non lifelike too lol. Maybe it's because the water down here is diarrhea Brown and visibility is bad? Might mean the scent of gulp helps more than the visual.
  8. This is about the time of the year that weakfish start showing up here in Myrtle.
  9. Speckled trout and weakfish are different species. Specks have fewer spots that are bigger.
  10. I wonder what this means for pure fishing?
  11. I have a 6'6" casting version paired with my zillion tws. Super light, sensitive, faster action. The cork on the handle is iffy. Other than that, great rod.
  12. The ole spinfisher was all metal and had enough gear problems and Penn made drop in cnc gears available. I agree that a full metal body and side plate is superior in a heavier duty reel, I also think the pinion bearings at each end is superior. Obviously Penn does also if the slammer and torque come that way, no?
  13. I'm aware that the torque and slammer are different. Like I said. There's no doubt in my mind that supported on both ends is superior. But again, I don't know if that matters on a small spinning reel. That's just my opinion. Take it or leave it. I will definitely pickup a new spinfisher though.
  14. To me, it just seems better to support the pinion at both ends. Ball bearings have play in them to some degree. Although most pinions in differentials are supported like Penn's pinions. BUT, they use tapered roller bearings with a lot of preload so they will not deflect with load. Is that an issue in a small spinning reel? Idk.
  15. Ye. Just bought a boat so I could use a couple mid sized spinners. They seem like my top choice right now.
