  1. LB you have a very early International 30 TW. This goes with all of the early Penn International reels. The early ones have an asbestos donut. Then they came out with the Dura Drag. Most of the TW series and up will take the new Dura Drag plate.
  2. The drag system shouldn’t have anything to do with how it reels UNLESS the drag stack is too tall. The last drag washers can rub against the side plate but only when the star is backed out all the way this picture is from a Penn 113H showing the old 3 stack versus the new HT-100 stack.
  3. The SW is a very basic reel. Single speed oops I was thinking of the TW reels. That tutorial is total crap. He didn’t wipe the drag grease off. He didn’t service the bearings. He didn’t put Loctite on the alarm Ratchet screws. They will back out and lock up the reel. Did he grease the rod bolt screws, under the reel seat, and under the harness lugs? I couldn’t watch anymore
  4. I use a commercial US cleaner. I use only water in the tank. I use a container of lacquer thinner for metal parts. Simple Green half and half with water in a container. I Will disassemble a reel like a Stradic. Throw the whole thing in the Simple Green for 15 minutes. It comes out looking like new. You can see the metallic finish again
  5. Go to Mystic parts and cross reference I highly doubt it
  6. Easily tap the roller support just enough so you can get a thin blade between the line roller and bail wire. It will pry off. Heat will ruin the plastic parts
  7. There is only one bearing. 3/8x7/8x9/32 They get full of corrosion easily. Pack it with marine grease. It will not slowly down the reel.
  8. Did you get new HT-100’s AND new metal washers? 5 drag washers and 5 metal washers. Plus an extra one on top.
  9. It’s the decomposed blue friction ring
  10. Im late to the game but yes that’s too much for such an older reel. Keith
  11. You need to get JIS screwdriver. Vessel makes a good one. It’s for Japanese philips head screws. They are different…..
  12. Even with the cheaper Shimano reels I don’t have a problem with uneven line lay. Just Penn reels. Just to make it clear it’s just the older models like the OP has shown
  13. The only reels that I have seen or used that do this are the older Penn spinning reels.
  14. Shimano uses at least two different greased in their reels. I find that odd
  15. II got a great dealers price on the Inox MX8 grease. It’s a red grease that is super smooth. I use it on most all conventional reels and some spinning reels. I bought a couple of cases of the 1 lb, containers and Tubes.
  16. Brake fluid will swell and ruin o rings. A guy i know uses it to stop power steering leaks
  17. PM me your address and i will send you a few
  18. My bad you need pin pliers to remove that pin. Boca sells a cheap set.
  19. I use these to remove bearings from a blind hole. Remove the white plastic weigh carrier and the bearing will come right out.
  20. You can buy an aftermarket handle knob that will be better than new. It will require drilling the old shaft out.
  21. Can you post a picture of what you need? I may have it.
