  1. Down in FL I use 4000 stradic FJ, slammer 5K, BG Daiwa (just ordered a 4K one and have the 8K for chunking/jigging), but I have to say I always find myself bringing my 704 or Mitchell 302/488 with me. Sure reels are a lot more advanced and lighter today, but it feels great to go back to basics and keep those oldies around. Needless to say they will outlast any other reels out there.
  2. They are down South too-Boynton to Boca at least.
  3. am considering removing the muffler on my 62 Falcon w/inline 6 200 CI and run it straight. Will see if I get disappointed.
  4. I have a 12' rod I bought up in Jersey back in 04. Its rated for 8oz. I just started using it now paired with a Mitchell 488. I am big into tossing lures but I have to confess its pretty nice to make a cast and sit down for a moment and relax. So far I have done it three times this year and once I got hit by something I could not stop. After having this thing tight for about 5 mins and peeling it came to a halt, gave me three strong head shakes and got my 100lb leader all shredded and cut. Definitely a toothy one. The power behind this fish was amazing, even if could not land it it gave me the glory run. Definitely doing it again soon.
  5. Finally starting to get back to a pending project, will get to it soon! Cheers!!!
  6. Yes, it seems to be another whole new chapter on its own. I tend to get very into the details when doing something, I just don't believe I want to go through that process right now, but may be at another point in my life . Thanks for putting it out there DaveF!!!!!! Great info Sir!!!!!much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. I am considering getting a powder coat kit to experiment on reel parts. Any recommendations on any of those kits out there guys??? If I get started on painting I want to go for something resilient as powder coating instead of spray paint. Any info is appreciated!
  8. "This is my last cast of the day" "Honey I'll be right back, am going fishing".There I am getting home next morning. "With this reel/rod I complete my gear set. After this I will only need terminal tackle" yeah right
  9. Wow keltan, your wheels are turning. Very ingenious!!!!!!
  10. The aluminum lining it's a great idea. I had a piece of transparent plastic roof that I used as lining, eventually started to break, that's why the tape.
  11. Here is my humble version of the cart. Does the job, it's running since 2010 I have four holders +2 pointing forward for longer rods.
  12. Serious cart there friend!!!! I will post pics of mine, I made it from PVC. I don't really use it on the sand, so I got away with regular wheels. I just use it from the parking lot to the pier (about 3 blocks). The cart is a real life saver.
