  1. Lets see. With high tide being 2 hours before sunset, shall I shop with a bunch of crazy people or deal with wind and cold in hopes of feeling the tug that has eluded me since July? I chose to shop. Just kidding. I went fishing. Good choice too. Lets just say the bass are back in the river and they are hungry. Didnt get much for the first hour and a half, but once the sun set and the winds died down a nice rip formed well within casting range and the bite was on. I stopped after the 15th was landed because my arm is totally out of shape, but in the mix was a 29" 31" and 32". A 5" Chartreuse and White Clouser did the trick. The bite didnt get good until after sunset too. They waited till twilight to move in. Definitely beats going to the mall.
  2. "Damn. Tangled up again."
  3. I'm all about that first one. Tie a few dozen of those...for me.
  4. Very nice and to the point. Like the use of the crystal ice dub under the goo for that translucent look. (Assuming thats what you used) The bottom one looks a bit snobby though with its nose in the air.
  5. After seeing the guy in the video rowing around on the back piece all I could think about was those biker shirts that say "If you can read this the B*tch fell off".
  6. With only 3-4 of extra line out, you probably should have put him on the reel and the let the drag do its job. 5x isnt built for a tug of war. That being said...sometimes when you get a good fish on, all higher brain thinking goes right out the window. Its happened to me too.
  7. I use a LL 7wt for stripers out of the kayak and I love it. The 9 should suit you fine. Its a medium action rod and casts nicely. Good looking too.
  8. Bummer. Guess I'll have to pack that fly box away for the next 10 months.
  9. Has anyone seen any cinder worms in the salt ponds recently? I've been up there twice in the last two weeks under good tide, moon, and weather conditions and havent seen a single one. Last year I found good action until the first week of July. Did they end early because they started early this year due to an unseasonably warm April?
  10. Looks like a yellow perch. Sure they eat those. Nice.
  11. I glued a 3" chartreuse and white banjo minnow to a lightwire hook and took it to the salt. Caught eight fish in a row before it popped off. I love that lure. Wasnt even that hard to cast on a 9wt.

    Honey Bee

Thats a "fish every cast" kind of fly.
  13. Very nice. Poppers are my favorite way to fish. Topwater explosions ooh lala. Isnt it funny how we make the top of the popper look nice too, even when the fish never sees it?
