  1. I believe a better ocean kayak with a more narrow hull would do much better in this type of current. I also have an outback and it seemed a bit sluggish in the current.
  2. I put it to the test at North River. Went out to the spit, went past the spit, trolled around for a bit then made my way back in on a falling tide. If you are not a strong kayaker please do not ever attempt this place past the spit. I being somewhat young thought it might not be that bad. If there were not so many boaters it would have made life easier getting back in. Took me a good hour to get back in and around the spit. I was dripping sweat by the end of this trip. One good thing is that i know the Hobie can take it and now have even more confidence in my ability and the kayak limit.
  3. I put the Hobie to the test in some real current recently and it passed. It was a slow go for about an hour and a half but made it through.
  4. What is the heaviest current you have been in with your kayak pedal or paddle power?
  5. I got the same and if you are looking to run all day off of the battery this fish finder is fantastic. Had it out 3 times already and no charge required on the battery still.
  6. Headed for deeper cooler water to see if i can rustle up some after the heatwave!
  7. Welcome! I am also new to kayak fishing but not fishing in general and I regret all the years i did not fish this way.
  8. Inshore and early! This is my first year doing ocean side and its great but always cautious and careful.
  9. I have been fishing for these guys my whole life and I took a break for a while due to life and now it is learning all over again. Everyone with very good points.
  10. I could see their fins coming up out of the water every once in a while and like you said being lazy and sunning themselves.
  11. Seemed like they were eating something really small but did not see any evidence of what.
  12. Striped bass just not hitting. Wondering if anyone has ever had this where they can see huge bass all over under the boat but not taking any of your offerings? I had this happen on Sunday only thing i did not offer was live bait. They seemed like they were being very picky. Top water i would cast and they would spook just by the lure hitting the water. Everything else not even a single tap or look.
