I love fishing topwater, but never found a big spook that really had a crazy action or was very castable. I built a few of these this year, in a few different sizes. 6" to 10" long. These are my standard 8.5" spooks. They weigh in around 3.5 to 4 oz. Rigged with either 4/0 or 5/0 VMCs.

great side to side action with a big swing. they work pretty good in heavy surf too, cause of the buoyancy

the one on the bottom is 10.5" long and 4oz, its a one off.

a few people out there have them and have done really well with them so far.

I had a few request this summer to built and make a big darter in PVC. Something that would cast nice and still hold in the current and get down. This is what I came up with.

They are 8.5" long and 3.5oz. Rigged with two 5/0 VMC 4x strong hooks. Doll style eyes on some and holographics on the others.

They swim down about 6 to 8 feet with a steady retrieve. and have a nice darting and wiggle.

The super strike is there for comparsion of the sizes.

Here are some pics of my 10" monster canals. They weigh around 4.5 ounces and are rigged with 4/0 or 5/0 VMC Hooks. They're tail weighted and get a nice side to side action, they cast really far!

Also they're constructed of solid PVC not wood, just like the cowboys and all my others. I played around with colors, Zuri is my favoite.
