Dubs' Striped Bass and Weakfish Photos
Charlie is my best friend, one who I have shared so much with in the past 20 years that he is literally closer than a brother to me. We have been through the good and the bad times, been there for each other through the storms and through the sunshine, I cannot think of a nicer guy that I have been blessed with to accompany me through life...I owe him much. We've fished for striped bass together in much of the striper realm, chased walleyes in Canada, salmon in Maine and probably caught some of everything that's ever tried to sneak past NJ! Everyone should have a friend like Charlie, I am certainly blessed.....
![]() Charlie's first 30! It took a teaser on the full moon in June...the strangest of things. The prior night, I had 3 big fish bust up my light spinning tackle in the same place. Big fish on artificials under June's full moon...very unlikely! Fish was 46 1/2" long, 30lbs 4oz. Way to go Charlie! Another shot on the right of the same fish. |

Here's Charlie, a.k.a. "Dubs" again, this
time proudly displaying some weaks we caught on the fly
rods early this year. Actually, we hooked the first one
just as Saltheart's alarm was going off, signaling his
arrival back to his truck after a dismal visit to NJ, one
I urged him to forgo, preferring to wait until the full
moon was not screaming down on us. Oh well, I believe he
dodged the skunk with some shad caught during the
daylight. The biggest of the 6 we kept was weighed at 6lb
5oz...not too shabby for trout. Each and every one took
the dreaded and deadly slab
fly!
(NOTE: Charlie's not deformed as the picture would have you believe, he's just got a giant wad of dip stuffed inside his cheek...I guess he never hear the commercial, "Just a pinch" ::)) ) |
