FROM THE SOUTH: Take G.S.P. to Outerbridge Crossing, follow signs to Verrazano Bridge - take Verrazano to Belt Parkway and head east. Road splits after about 15 miles, bear left - sign now says Southern State Parkway - east. Continue to Meadowbrook Parkway - east - sign say "Jones Beach". When you arrive at Jones Beach, follow Ocean Parkway east to the Oak Beach Inn parking lot, 15 miles or so. Sign says "Oak Beach". If you pass it, you will end up at Captree State Park, and you will simply turn around and come back about 2 miles. Commercial traffic cannot take this route - see section at bottom.
FROM THE NORTH: Take I-95 south to Throggs Neck Bridge. After you get off the bridge continue straight ahead (south) to Grand Central Parkway - east. The name changes, so you end up on Northern State Parkway - east. Continue until roadway widens to 4 lanes. Stay to the right, and exit at Meadowbrook Parkway - south - sign says "Jones Beach".
Commercial traffic - In New York, if you have commercial plates, you are not allowed on any parkway. Take the Long Island Expressway eastbound, and get off at Rte. 135 south. Take Rte. 135 to "Montauk Highway east". Exit at "Robert Moses Causeway" and go over the first (suspension) bridge only. Just before the second (suspension) bridge exit at "Ocean Parkway - west". The Oak Beach Inn parking lot is on the eastbound side of the road, so you will have to pass it and turn around. There is a "U-Turn" clearly marked on the median side. The section of Ocean Parkway you will be on is exempted from the "no commercial traffic" restriction.
